Sister Myrtle Poxon
Myrtle was born and grew up in Durham and began to train at Queens College in Birmingham for the Wesley Deaconess Order at the age of 20. She had experienced a deep conversion as a teenager and began to attend a nearby Methodist Church where some wise older people ‘adopted’ her and these early years were very influential. Over the years we have both held various offices in the Church with Myrtle being a very young Network President in the early 90’s and later Vice-President of the Conference in 2004-5.
Rev Stephen Poxon
Stephen grew up in Beeston, Nottingham, and was very involved in his local church and the Boys’ Brigade. After university in Manchester he did 2 years VSO in Zambia and came back to enter Queens College to train for ministry …. and this is where he met Myrtle. Together they have served in the Caribbean, in Cardiff and Preston, before Stephen was appointed Chair of the Lancashire District, and subsequently the President of the Methodist Conference.
