Muswell Hill sheep trail
Blog stories
Posada (meaning “home” or “lodging”) is an old Mexican tradition where young people dressed as Mary & Joseph from house to house asking for a room for the night and telling people about the imminent arrival of Jesus in the weeks leading up to Christmas. On Christmas Eve they would visit the local church to re-enact the nativity and place figures in a crib.
Modern-day Posada uses nativity figures of Mary and Joseph who travel from place to place. This gives each ‘host’ the chance to create their own celebration in their home or place in the community, worshipping and reaching out to their communities with the real message of Christmas, making room for Jesus in their lives.
You can follow Mary and Joseph’s travels this Christmastime here…
There is room in the Christmas story for you.

What is Greenbelt? It’s a faith-based music and arts festival that takes place over the August Bank Holiday weekend in the grounds of Boughton House near Kettering, and a number of folk from MHMC have attended the festival over many years, either for the whole weekend or just for a day.
We’re somewhere artistry meets activism, where the political meets the practical. We’re somewhere to come together once a year, where we’re as likely to dream up a better world as we are to dance and debate, to pray and to party.
A key feature of the weekend are the many and varied talks on a broad range of topics, which are recorded and made available as a resource after the event. Talks from the past 15 years are freely available on the Greenbelt website. The 60+ festival talks of 2022 have been purchased for the benefit of our church community and are available on a secure page via the button below. Please consider making a donation to the Greenbelt Communion Offering for access to this facility.
If you’re wondering where to start, maybe these two talks will whet your appetite (the link will take you to the talk description on the Greenbelt site):
Please use the short form below to let us know which talks you have enjoyed so we can promote them to others in future blog posts – thanks!
We celebrate with Alison and Jeremy who were married on Saturday 25th at 3pm.
If you were unable to attend the ceremony or would like to watch it again, you can see the recording on our YouTube site.
And please add your photos of the occasion to this Google Photos album to give Alison and Jeremy some great memories of this special day! Thank you!
Did you know that you can now watch each week’s Sunday Morning Worship live on YouTube? Just tune in to our homepage on YouTube at 10:30am each Sunday and join us from the comfort of your home (and in your pyjamas if you wish, as we can’t see you!).
And if you Subscribe to us on YouTube, you’ll get a helpful reminder when we start Live Streaming!
Here’s the most recent service to catch-up on if you missed it live:
We have now put more chairs back in church, providing capacity for our usual numbers on Sunday morning whilst still maintaining a safe space for members of the congregation.
Here is a brief reminder of what you can expect, and what you need to do for yours and other people’s safety:
We look forward to welcoming you to worship at church.
We are looking forward to the day when we can all safely worship together once again, which hopefully won’t be too long now.
In the meantime we continue to reach out to the church community through various channels, including the MHMC Newsletter email. If you’ve not already subscribed to receive the email, please register here and you should get your first Newsletter email within a week or so.
However, some folk have reported that they are no longer seeing the Newsletter email, which may be due to email services such as Hotmail, Yahoo, and Gmail having recently tightened their filtering rules. If you are in this situation, here are a few simple steps to help ensure that future MHMC Newsletter emails reach your inbox:
As a Gmail user, your inbox is probably split into Primary, Social and Promotions tabs, and the MHMC Newsletter emails are being placed in the Promotions tab.
All these email services are provided by Microsoft and the spam filters are defined in your online settings, so go to www.outlook.com and sign-in to your email account.
Click on Settings (the gear symbol in the top right), then on View all Outlook Settings at the bottom.
Within the Email settings, click on Junk email.
Within the Blocked senders and domains section, find the entry for newsletter@mhmc.org.uk and click the wastebasket icon at the right to delete this entry.
Then scroll down to the Safe mailing lists section, click the + Add button, type newsletter@mhmc.org.uk, hit Enter then Save to update your settings. You should now receive the Newsletter emails in your inbox!
As a Yahoo user, you may find the Newsletter emails are in your Spam folder within your online account.
Open the Spam folder (in the folder list on the left), then look for a recent MHMC Newsletter email from newsletter@mhmc.org.uk
Open the Newsletter email, then click on the Not Spam button on the menu bar. You should now receive Newsletter emails in your inbox!
Please get in touch with me directly and I’m sure we can work together to sort it out!

‘What is Hybrid Worship?’, we hear you ask. It’s where we bring together both physical and online attendees in real time through the power of technology, enabling both communities to meet and share together in the same act of worship.
Hybrid Worship is a step-on from ‘Live Streamed’ worship (which allows you to watch a live service, but not participate in it); in Hybrid Worship, Zoom enables people at home to appear on screen in church and contribute to the service, and for the folk in church to greet their friends who are online.
To attend Hybrid Worship from home, just click on this Zoom Meeting link at the time of the service (or go to www.zoom.us and follow the instructions to join a meeting using meeting ID 995 195 4464 then enter the passcode 123456). To chat with other online folk and be greeted by people arriving at church, do join the meeting from around 10:20.
We look forward to seeing you with us on-screen at our Hybrid Worship!
